SparkColors Terms of Service
Last updated: May 1, 2026
1. Service Description
SparkColors is a browser extension and related online service for web reading, annotations, thoughts, page understanding, and knowledge organization. The service includes the Chrome extension, popup, side panel, content scripts, web pages, backend APIs, community features, AI assistance, import and export, gamification, and energy features.
By using, registering for, signing in to, or continuing to access SparkColors, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
2. Account and Security
You must register with a valid email address and keep your password, devices, and sessions secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised or your data is at risk, please contact us promptly.
You may not impersonate others, create accounts in bulk, bypass captcha or invitation controls, attack the service, interfere with other users, or use automation to abuse the service.
3. Browser Extension and Permissions
To provide highlighting, location, side panel, page understanding, and reading-resume features on web pages, the SparkColors extension runs content scripts on http and https pages and requests storage, tabs, activeTab, sidePanel, and site access permissions.
These permissions are used only for user-facing core features, such as identifying the current page, saving local preferences, restoring highlights, opening the side panel, sending location commands to the current tab, and reading page content that you select or ask SparkColors to process. We do not use these permissions for advertising profiles, data sales, unrelated tracking, or collection of browsing activity unrelated to the product's features.
4. User Content and Intellectual Property
Annotations, thoughts, comments, feedback, avatars, imported files, and other content you create remain owned by you or the original rights holder. You grant SparkColors permission to process that content only as needed to provide, sync, back up, display, search, export, moderate, support community interactions, and improve the service.
If you make content public, participate in community features, like, bookmark, report, or publish thoughts, related content and interaction data may be visible to other users and may appear in community feeds, dispute analysis, knowledge graphs, or moderation tools.
You must not upload or publish content that infringes rights, is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, malicious, spammy, misleading, or otherwise unsuitable for the service.
5. AI and Automated Features
SparkColors provides AI-assisted features such as page structure extraction, key point extraction, term explanations, reading resume, Q&A, translation, conflict detection, entity extraction, and style suggestions. AI output is for reading and organization assistance only. It is not legal, medical, financial, investment, or other professional advice, and it does not represent SparkColors' official views.
When you actively use AI or translation features, relevant page snippets, selected text, questions, annotations, thoughts, page titles, URLs, or context may be sent to our backend and processed by AI providers or translation providers configured by us. You are responsible for evaluating the accuracy, completeness, and suitability of AI output.
6. Community Governance and Moderation
SparkColors may provide public thoughts, community feeds, reports, likes, bookmarks, dispute analysis, and user profile features. Based on user reports, automated detection, administrator review, or legal requirements, we may hide, delete, limit distribution of, reduce visibility of, withdraw, restrict, or suspend content, features, or accounts.
Administrators may review necessary data under controlled and audited processes when handling user support, report review, security incidents, abuse investigations, or legal obligations.
7. Import, Export, Deletion, and Portability
SparkColors supports exporting annotations and thoughts and importing related data. You should keep your own backups of important content and ensure that imported content is lawful.
You may request account deletion. Account deletion may include a grace period during which you can sign in again to cancel the request. After the grace period, the system will delete or anonymize data that can be deleted. Some records may be retained for a reasonable period when needed for security, audits, anti-abuse, dispute handling, backup recovery, or legal obligations.
8. Energy, Achievements, and Gamification
SparkColors may provide energy balances, bills, rewards, streaks, levels, achievements, themes, skins, and thought effects. These features are for product experience and operational incentives. They are not cash, securities, cryptocurrency, or redeemable property rights unless we provide separate written rules.
We may adjust rewards, balances, unlocks, and display effects for risk control, error correction, abuse handling, or operational rules.
9. Changes, Interruptions, and Termination
We work to keep the service stable, but it may be interrupted or limited due to maintenance, upgrades, network issues, third-party services, browser policy changes, force majeure, or security events. We may adjust, suspend, or stop parts of the service as the product evolves.
If you violate these Terms, applicable laws, platform review requirements, or community rules, we may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access and take appropriate technical or legal measures.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
SparkColors is provided as is. We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that all AI output, community content, third-party content, or web page content will be accurate or reliable. You are responsible for your use of the service, reliance on outputs, public content, and processing of third-party web content.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SparkColors is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, lost data, business interruption, third-party service failures, or losses caused by your violation of these Terms.
11. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms as our product, review requirements, laws, or operations change. Material changes may be disclosed through in-product notices, login or registration pages, settings pages, or other reasonable methods, and may require your renewed acceptance before continued use.
12. Contact
